Message From Minister Bud Murphy

                          Pastor Bud's Buzzings

You may be like me and many members of this congregation. My own spiritual journey did not begin as a Unitarian Universalists. I was ordained to the Catholic priesthood in 1967. The second Vatican Council took place when I was going through the seminary and it raised my expectations about the liberal direction the Catholic Church was taking both theologically and as a religious organization. With the death of Pope John 23rd, the Catholic Church took a more conservative direction and I began to question my continued involvement with Catholicism. I had begun training for a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling at the University of Detroit. When I decided to leave the active ministry I completed my Master of Arts with certification as a Marriage Counselor. I've had a variety of professional roles. In addition to my work as a marriage and family therapist I've provided lectures and workshops on a variety of topics dealing with personal and organizational effectiveness.

While members provide much of the pastoral care to one another here in this loving community if you choose to meet with me I am available. Needs can arise in a variety of areas including marriage and relationship concerns, work related issues, conflict, anxiety, grief and loss, financial difficulties, depression, loneliness, family problems, life transitions and adjustments, and issues of conscience and faith. Call the office and let us help.

We welcome anyone looking for a caring community to support their search for truth and meaning. We are a diverse group of individuals, but we share a strong commitment to celebrate the journey as we strive to create a desirable and sustainable future. This is my kind of religion. Maybe it's your kind of religion as well. Consider stopping by some Sunday to learn more about us. Bring your children. We have an RE Director and RE programs for children of all ages as well as child care services; either is available while you attend our service.

If you would like to have a conversation about Unitarian Universalism or anything else call (386) 677-6172 and we'll set up a time to get together.
